The original Silver Age was one of the five "Ages of Man" described by the ancient poet Hesiod. It began when Deucalion and Pyrrha begot men and women out of rocks after the Deluge. These people lived for one hundred years as children without growing up, then they suddenly aged and died. Zeus destroyed these people because of their impiety.
