In some countries, it is obligatory to use handsfree, when using a mobile telpehone while driving. However, studies have shown that, even while using a hands-free unit, there is still a higher risk of collision, owing to distraction. In a new law, introduced in the United Kingdom in 2003, it is illegal to use a mobile phone while driving[1]. Similar laws have been adopted in New York, Connecticut, California and Washington, DC, in the U.S.A.. Many of these laws make provisions for the use of handsfree devices in vehicles.
