They play in League Two, the fourth tier of the English football pyramid. Their home stadium is Edgeley Park, and are nicknamed The Hatters, although are usually referred to by supporters simply as County. Formed in 1883 as Heaton Norris Rovers F.C., shortly after they merged with a similarly named club, Heaton Norris F.C., and on 24 May 1890 changed their name to Stockport County F.C. to reflect Stockport becoming a County Borough[1].
